SPEAKER: DR. DANIEL SMITH-CHRISTOPHER
TOPIC : ECCLESIASTES AND JOB. IS THIS STILL “WISDOM”?
Wisdom Literature is traditionally considered a category of Biblical Literature represented mainly by the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and somewhat more controversially) the book of Job. What IS “Wisdom” in the Bible? What are these books really talking about? WHY has there been an increase in interest in these books of the Bible? And are there NEW TESTAMENT examples of traditional Jewish “Wisdom” teaching? (Spoiler alert: most say “YES”. Can you guess which book in the New Testament is usually compared to Old Testament “Wisdom” books? Join us as we learn about “Hebrew Wisdom” books in the Bible.

Topic: Experiencing the Life we Long For
How do we experience the life we long for? How do we experience all Jesus promised
when he said: “My sheep know my voice and follow me” (John 10:3,5,27). In these two
weeks we will unpack how to experience a “conversational relationship” with Jesus that
opens us to finding the life we desire.

Speaker: Gary Sattler, ThD, PsyD
Topic: “TRAUMA”
Trauma is a word we hear frequently these days: the Rev. Dr. Gary Sattler, a research psychoanalyst, retired Presbyterian minister and seminary professor, will help us think about what trauma is, its effects, and ways of responding, both with others and ourselves.
May 30, 2021 – PART 2 OF 2
Speaker: Gary Sattler, ThD, PsyD
Topic: “FORGIVENESS”
What does it mean to forgive? Are we to “forgive and forget?” Does it mean to just be nice? Gary Sattler will be with us again this week to explore what forgiveness means, how God thinks about it, and what we should expect of ourselves (and perhaps hope for from others).
