Opportunities

to Serve

At Brentwood Presbyterian Church, we believe serving others is a vital expression of our faith. There are many opportunities available for you to get involved and make a difference in our community and beyond

  • Habitat for Humanity Build

BPC was one of the original members of the faith community to volunteer when the Los Angeles Chapter of Habitat for Humanity was first founded in the 90’s.  This relationship grew under the original long-term leadership of Ed and Kitty Grell and continues to be an important Mission opportunity for us today.

Habitat for Humanity is a strong and well-respected leader in providing "a hand up" for those in need to acquire housing locally, nationally, and internationally.

On Saturday, May 9th, BPC will be working with Habitat to help build a group of homes in Long Beach from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  We will be supervised by experienced leaders, so no special skills are required.  We plan to have carpooling available.  There will be a sign-up list on the patio, or you can contact Steve Ruth if you have any questions.

Online Tool to Help LA's Homeless

There’s a brand new online tool in LA to help the homeless: LA-HOP, the first of its kind. Anybody with a cell phone or computer can use it. Here’s how it works: If you see someone on the street who needs help, go to LA-HOP.com. type in the location and describe the situation. An outreach team will then look into getting them the services they need. LA-HOP is not for medical or mental emergencies nor for reporting crime, but it does allow you to help someone in need. Learn more, go to https://www.lahsa.org/portal/apps/la-hop/.
