Vision Statement

The BPC Endowment Ministry strives to be faithful stewards of long term gifts to the Endowment Funds, wisely investing the gifts and distributing the proceeds to worthy ministries inside and outside the walls of the Church. Our vision is to provide the guidance, education and services to BPC congregants and other deserving mission activities that will help them to fulfill their faith promise to God in perpetuity.

Endowment funds represent funds set aside by the donor, or by Session to provide income in perpetuity to support the goals of Brentwood Presbyterian Church. The endowment funds are not available to be spent; they are invested in income producing assets. The income earned is available to be spent in accordance with the terms of the particular endowment fund.

The Endowment Ministry uses the following criteria to evaluate grant applications.

  1. Proposed projects must meet the specific criteria of the particular endowment funds being applied for.
  2. Proposals are initially presented to established BPC committees responsible for the area of the grants, i.e., Mission, Facilities, etc. for the committees approval prior to forwarding the application to the BPC Endowment Committee, for consideration.
  3. Proposed facilities projects should be nonrecurring items, not substitutes for normal operating budget items.
  4. Proposed objectives should be consistent with BPC's goals and objectives.
  5. Preference will be given to projects most directly targeted by the directions of the specific endowment.
  6. Preferences will be given to projects that result in meaningful and lasting benefits.

The Endowment Committee makes recommendations to Session on the allocation of funds to specific grant recipients each Spring.
