BPCKidz Worship Hour
We use curriculum by Godly Play® which is designed to help children enter more deeply into the life of faith by sharing sacred Bible stories through storytelling, art, and other specially designed activities. Children already have some knowledge of the mystery of the presence of God in their lives, but they often lack the language, and sometimes the permission and understanding, to express and enjoy that experience in our culture. We strive to create experiences that help us discover God, ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
Each elementary grade participates in a special program, called Passages, that teaches the children more about God's love and ways to serve God in the church. The list below shares what passage your child will celebrate during each grade:
- Preschool Baptism Passage: Preschoolers attend an infant baptism in the worship service and return to their class for an age appropriate lesson on baptism.
- Kindergarten Stewardship Passage: Children learn about stewardship and receive offering envelopes and are encouraged to participate with the congregation by giving offering.
- First Grade Bible Passage: The church presents each First Grader with a storybook bible.
- Second Grade Communion Passage: The children and their parents participate in a special program to teach them about communion and are then invited to join the celebration of the Eucharist.
- Third Grade Mission Passage: The children learn about mission by taking part in a mission project supporting the programs of BPC’s Mission-partner agencies.
- Fourth Grade Bible Passage: The church presents each Fourth Grader with a bible followed by a celebration brunch with their families.
- Fifth Grade Graduation Passage: A special joint program with Youth Ministry in which Fifth Graders receive certificates of completion and celebrate graduating up to Youth Ministry.
