Children's Ministry Mission Statement

Children's Ministry is committed to nurturing children in their Christian faith, providing them with opportunities to grow in God's grace, enabling them to develop the spiritual resources necessary for life's journey, and for a loving relationship with God, self, and others.

The Children’s Ministry serves parents and children, newborn through 5th grade in the BPC community through fulfilling the purpose of this ministry through four stated goals:

  • To provide meaningful, exciting Sunday morning programs for children in accordance with the mission statements of BPC and of Children’s Ministry.
  • To provide special events for children which mark special celebrations or focus on particular aspects of church life including Communion & Baptism Passages, Vacation Bible School, Christmas celebration, and intergenerational events.
  • To provide supervised care for children during adult classes and programs offered at BPC. Care is arranged and implemented by Children’s Ministry but funded by the ministry requesting it.
  • To equip, nurture and support the parents, volunteers, and staff who are informed and passionate about children and enthusiastically share their faith with them, to work together to implement our programs and build relationships with children and each other.

BPCKidz Events

In addition to our Sunday Morning program, Children's Ministry provides several special programs and events for our children and their friends throughout the year.

Some examples of these special events are:

  • Advent Workshop in December: A celebratory event the first Sunday of Advent in which children, families, and community members are invited to enjoy pizza, create wonderful advent wreathes , and participate in a mission project.
  • Vacation Bible School: A weeklong late afternoon event for children in the church and the broader community at the start of summer break. The children have the opportunity to engage in fun activities, music, art, and games that enable them to become closer to God and learn how God can impact their lives in meaningful ways, while having a whole lot of fun!
  • Preschool Pajama Parties: Typically held twice a year, these fun parties for preschoolers take place at BPC on a Saturday morning and include pancakes, arts and crafts, music, prayer and stories, and are a great opportunity to get to know other BPC preschool families.
  • Elementary Backyard Carnival: Children are welcomed back from summer with this special carnival kickoff event during the 9:30 am worship service.
