Saturday Dinner for People Without Homes
The Saturday Dinner for People without Homes takes place at BPC on the fourth Saturday of each month. BPCers prepare a meal in the church kitchen on Saturday morning and serve it at the Santa Monica Shelter (SAMOSHEL) in the afternoon. The meals include meat, vegetables, salad, breads and desserts. One team cooks the meals and a second team transports the meals to SAMOSHEL, where it joins a third team to serve and eat dinner with the shelter residents. Occasionally, food is prepared on-site at SAMOSHEL, taking advantage of its refurbished industrial kitchen. The BPCers are an intergenerational group, with children and youth often joining in the experience.
