CLARE Foundation
The CLARE Foundation provides compassionate treatment and recovery services for alcoholism and substance abuse to individuals, families and the community. CLARE began in 1965 when a group of citizens began bringing food, blankets, and the message of recovery to homeless alcoholics living on Santa Monica and Venice beaches. The non-profit has grown from a small storefront on Pico Boulevard to its current 11 programs serving individuals in Los Angeles County. The 11 residential and outpatient programs offer culturally sensitive English, Spanish, and gender-specific social services to a diverse population of men, women, children, the homeless, and those facing criminal prosecution for drug and alcohol offenses. CLARE’s programs include non-medical detoxi¬fication, primary recovery support, a long-term residential recovery program, sober living for individuals, a sober living center for women and their children, intensive outpatient services, family support centers and the Clarity for youth program, which takes the message of recovery and prevention to teens in public schools.
