Chrysalis
Chrysalis is dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals become self-sufficient through jobs. Founded in 1984 as a food and clothing distribution center serving homeless people on Skid Row in Los Angeles, Chrysalis has grown into a nationally recognized program helping homeless people to become job ready and find and retain employment. Chrysalis’ philosophy is that a steady job is the single most important step in a person’s transition to long-term self-sufficiency. It provides employment services to nearly 2,300 individuals annually through its centers based in downtown L.A., Santa Monica and Pacoima. The effectiveness of its programs is reflected in this statistic – 93% of clients who participate in Chrysalis’ Job Readiness Curriculum find jobs. In addition to pre-job services (job readiness, job search and case management) and employment services, Chrysalis offers a job retention program, various support groups and a women’s group.
