BorderLinks
With facilities in both Tuscon, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora (Mexico), the bi-national organization BorderLinks seeks to educate and inspire action around global political economics. Affiliated with PC(USA), the national Presbyterian Church, BorderLinks is an international leader in experiential learning, It offers a unique combination of courses and direct personal experience, bringing together people from North and Latin America, promoting intercultural understanding, respect and solidarity, and striving to create communities where all people have an equal chance for a full and dignified life. Its programs include two-week long travel seminars, during which students stay in community centers, churches or motels in cities along the border. And in Nogales, students spend one week in the BorderLinks Community Center (“House of Mercy”) and then transfer to a four-week homestay. Through academics and experience, students learn about immigration, community formation, development and social justice in the borderlands between Mexico, the U.S. and beyond.
