Academy for Judaic, Christian and Islamic Studies
The Academy for Judaic, Christian, and Islamic Studies is located on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles and offers academic discourse on the commonality of the three monotheistic religions stemming from a common religious ancestor, Abraham, and his two sons, Ishmael and Isaac—the Abraham connection.
The Academy began focusing on the Abraham connection with dialogues in 1971. Lectures have also been given at the Vatican, World Council of Churches, major American universities, the University of Haran in Ur, the birthplace of Abraham, and in the cities of Cairo, Egypt, Jerusalem, Israel, and Istanbul, Turkey.
In 1994 the Academy began studies at UCLA. Its mission is 1) the advancement of dialogue between Jews, Christians and Muslims; 2) the conduct of research and publishing the results, and 3) teaching what has been found and experienced.
Currently a popular course on the UCLA campus, the class in 2008 had a waiting list of 60 students. The Reverend George Grose, a Presbyterian pastor, Rabbi Michael Gottlieb, and Dr. Muzammil Saddiqi have served as the principles in the establishment and continuance of this offering.
