Caregiving
for Members
The Caregiving
Ministry is comprised of the ministries described below, which strive
to nurture the BPC family and witness Christ's love through service
and prayer.
- The Chain
of Prayer Ministry
responds to hundreds of prayer requests every year. More than
50 volunteers receive the prayer requests via e-mail, fax, or
telephone, and provide sustained, focused prayer for the needs
and concerns of the church family.
- The Meals
Ministry
comes to the assistance of members who may be recuperating after
a stay in the hospital, when a home-cooked meal brought into the
home is just what they need.
- The Transportation
Ministry
serves our members who do not drive, happily providing rides to
Sunday services, church functions, or even an important doctor's
appointment.
- The Flower
Ministry
delivers the Sunday morning Sanctuary flowers to homebound members
and local convalescent centers.
- The Memorial
Service Ministry assists families in the planning of services
for loved ones who have passed from this life to more life. This
ministry is a comforting presence to bereaved families and provides
ushers, hosts, and home-baked cookies for receptions after memorials.
- The Home
Communion Ministry
offers quarterly home communion visits for the homebound by our
pastors.
The annual Christmas
Caroling event is also sponsored by the Caregiving Ministry,
and provides a joyful way to reach out to those in our church family
and the larger community by singing to the homebound, those confined
to nursing facilities, and our veterans at the Veterans Administration
Hospital.
The Caregiving
Ministry encourages members to make requests whenever they feel
the need for support. These requests can be kept confidential if
a member so wishes.
If you would
like to make a request for yourself or if you know someone who could
benefit from one of the Caregiving Ministries, contact the church
office at 310-826-5656. You can also contact the church office if
you would like the rewarding experience of serving in the Caregiving
Ministry.
