Fellowship
Ministries
Whether you're
thirty-something or seventy-something, a new mom or recently retired,
man or woman, single or … simply looking for a group to sew with
… there's a place for you at BPC. We invite you to participate in
the many events and activities that build our sense of community
and help you to feel part of BPC's family of faith.
All-Church
Fellowship Events
BPC holds several
"all-church" fellowship events every year:
- All-Church
Picnic - The entire BPC family comes together for a day of
fun, games, singing and good food. A great opportunity to relax
and play together. Historically a summer event, in 2003 the picnic
was combined with the annual Reunion Brunch in September (see
below) into a "Fall Kick-Off Picnic."
- All-Church
Ski and Snowboard Trip - BPC's downhill and cross-country
ski enthusiasts - and snowboarders - take to the slopes of Mammoth
for a weekend of skiing and fellowship amidst the wonder and beauty
of the Sierras. (February)
- Golf Tournament
- BPC Golfers of all abilities participate in a "scramble" format
tournament, enjoying a day of fellowship and fun at the Malibu
Country Club. (fall)
- Reunion
Sunday Brunch - Held on the second Sunday in September, Reunion
Sunday is exactly what its name implies: a time to reconnect with
BPC family after a summer away, while enjoying a delicious brunch.
The festivities take place in Fellowship Hall and brunch is served
after each morning service. (September)
- Thanksgiving
Brunch - Every Thanksgiving, BPC and Kehillat Ma'arav synagogue
hold an interfaith breakfast and worship service. The Kehillat
Ma'arav congregation shared our sanctuary for many years, until
it was able to move into its own synagogue home in Santa Monica,
and now the annual Thanksgiving Breakfast continues our long-standing
interfaith relationship. (November)
- Congregational
Dinner - This annual church dinner and congregational meeting
is held on the first Sunday in February. The festive evening generally
includes a performance by the Children's Choir and Living Proof
(the youth choir), the honoring of outgoing Elders and Deacons,
and the presentation of the budget for the upcoming year. (February)

and single, parents and non-parents, members and non-members, who
are seeking fellowship and friendship within the faith community
of BPC. Young Spiritual Adventurers plans numerous events each year,
including the all-church trip to the Hollywood Bowl in August, a
progressive dinner in November, hikes, trips to the Getty Center,

Men's
Ministry
In our busy,
fast-paced lives, it's often difficult to find the time to develop
meaningful relationships. Men's Ministry offers opportunities for
men to discover new friendships at BPC and to deepen existing relationships.
The mission of Men's Ministry is twofold: to foster fellowship among
the men of BPC through outreach, guidance, mentoring and nurturing;
and to seek to better understand and serve God, each other, and
ourselves.
Annual activities
include regular breakfasts with guest speakers, a half-day retreat,
and a weekend retreat. Past breakfast topics have included: "Tough
Guy: Stoicism and the Christian Life" and "A Winner's Use of Failure,"
and past breakfast speakers have included Los Angeles Mayor Richard
Riordan.

Women's
Ministry
No matter what
season of life you're in, Women's Ministry offers opportunities
for spiritual growth, service, and fellowship within BPC's intergenerational
community of women. Through its programs, Women's Ministry aims
to lend insight and support to BPC's women who, like women everywhere,
are faced with wide-ranging challenges. Annual programs include:
spring, summer and fall breakfasts with guest speakers; a half-day
seminar; and a weekend retreat. Past breakfast topics have included
"Harmony and Balance" and "Creating Margin: Dealing With Stress
in Our Over-Crowded Lives."

Seniors
Ministry
BPC's seniors
program strives to meet the needs of our older members through a
number of groups. The names of these groups - "Terrific Outstanding
Presbyterian Servants" (or "TOPS) and "Young at Heart" - reflect
their spirit of joyful fellowship and thoughtful and caring community.
TOPS luncheons,
held on Sundays, provide seniors with the opportunity to be "pampered"
with a lovely hot lunch, complete with musical entertainment by
BPC's own talented members.
Young at
Heart offers a luncheon with an activity or excursion on the
3rd Tuesday of each month. These have included trips to the Long
Beach Aquarium, the Huntington Library, the Getty Museum, and a
Thanksgiving luncheon in the month of November.

conversation and delicious snacks. Gather with old friends and meet
new ones!

doing needlework while enjoying the company of others. Come and
